We have some sharp corners at the dojo, which can be dangerous during randori. So far, what we've done is ask players who are not doing randori to stand by those sharp corners to block the randori players from accidentally crashing into those corners. That's obviously not a long-term solution.
Today, we got our long term solution!
One of the challenges of having a dojo in a shoplot is that some edges are very sharp and that could pose a danger during randori. |
We have been scratching our heads trying to figure out a way to solve this problem. It's not so easy because of the way the pillars protrude out from the walls. |
When there's a will, there's a way and we managed to find a way to wrap some cushions around these protruding pillars with their sharp edges. |
That one particular pillar at the edge was challenging but a wraparound involving two paddings will do the work. That pillar is particularly dangerous so we had to find a way to pad it. |
We chose the pillar paddings to be red, like our crash pads. If you look at our dojo, we have the colors of the Malaysian flag! White walls, blue and yellow mats, red crash pads and pillar paddings. |
Now, our players can randori safely. Yeah! |
